For those of you who haven’t taken Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3 online offerings for a spin yet, you’ll be happy to know that the publisher is today launching a free-to-play option that lets you get in on all of the running, jumping and shooting at absolutely no charge.

Announced through the PlayStation Blog, Naughty Dog’s Community Strategist Eric Monacelli broke down the free-to-play offerings.

“We also wanted everyone who plays our multiplayer game to engage with it in a way that best suits their own unique play styles,” Monacelli said. “So, it’s time to go big and grow our community even more.”

The Uncharted 3 multiplayer free-to-play option goes live this afternoon, allowing anyone who downloads it to play up to level 15 free of charge. After that, you can continue to play as long as you want, you simply won’t unlock new gear, weapons, perks, etc.

If, however, you would like to dive deeper into the online options, several tiers of paid content will also be available. While each of these is outlined in the above linked blog post, players who want to upgrade from the level 15 baseline can purchase packs that unlock the co-op adventure, split screen, multiplayer co-op arena, a level cap raise to level 25, a full level cap release, DLC map packs and even the single player campaign.

If, however, you would rather skip past all of that piece meal business and get the entire digital experience, you can do that starting today, too, as the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Game of the Year Edition hits PSN for $39.99.
