Valhalla Knights 3 Serving Time On The Vita Oct. 15
The clash of sword against claw. The cry of a beast as it crumbles to the ground. The shiny loot! Gamers can never get enough of fantasy-based JRPGs and, come Oct. 15, the latest game in said genre, Valhalla Knights 3, will be releasing for the PlayStation Vita.
We’ve known for a while now that the latest Valhalla Knights game would be hitting the US, we just didn’t have any earthly idea when that might actually happen. Now publisher XSEED has decided to let the cat out of the bag, letting everyone know that their next to last game for 2013 will be arriving in mid-October.
XSEED Localization Lead Ryan Graff made the announcement official this afternoon, complete with a brand-spanking-new trailer for series fans to enjoy, highlighting the character class system at play within the game.
As Graff makes note of in today’s announcement, it’s not an uncommon plot development for the hero of a JRPG to end up in jail and then shortly make their escape.
“Of course, you couldn’t have a whole RPG where the heroes stay in prison…or could you? And is so, what would it be like,” Graff asked. “Vita owners can find out on Oct. 15, when Valhalla Knights 3, a game that takes that question and runs with it, comes out on both retail shelves and PlayStation Store.”
It turns out the entire game takes place in a massive prison called Carceron, a stone fortress that is, of course, surrounded by lands overrunning with war and monsters. Within the prison, the guards stay mostly out of your affairs, keeping an eye on the prisoners from just out of reach. As for said prisoners, they’ve created their own society within the prison, where they’re basically allowed to live out the rest of their sentence however they choose.

When starting the game, players will get to create their own character, complete with their choice of gender, name, appearance, voice and class. Classes include the Fighter, Mage and Priest we’ve all grown to know and love, as well as the Ninja, Samurai and Amazon.
Featuring a plot more akin to a Hollywood action flick from the 80’s than a traditional RPG, your job as a soldier is to infiltrate the prison disguised as a new inmate and locate a certain treasure that pretty much everyone is willing to go to great lengths to obtain.
If that sounds like a barrel full of fun to you, then you can get your hands on Valhalla Knights 3 for the PlayStation Vita come Oct. 15.
