The Games with Gold promotion continues this week with Assassin’s Creed II, free to subscribers, along with all sorts of new content being added to the Xbox Live Marketplace, including sales on Mortal Kombat content and games from the Tom Clancy lineup.
We reported yesterday that Assassin’s Creed II would be the second Games with Gold offering, available free of charge to subscribers to Microsoft’s online service. Usually going for 20 bucks, Gold member can download Ezio’s second adventure free of charge starting today. Several discounts on DLC for that game, as well as content for various other Assassin’s Creed games, can also be found at the above link. That should at least comfort those who were upset with the Games with Gold promotion’s first offering, Defense Grid: Awakening. Then again, this is the internet, and if there’s a way to complain about a free game, you better believe we’ll discover it.
But that’s not all that’s coming to the XBL Marketplace this week. As outlined over on the Major Nelson blog, there are a few new games on offer this week, as well as a slew of discounts for various games, including those that have Tom Clancy or Mortal Kombat in the name.
First up, the new games. Injustice: Gods Among Us joins the Games on Demand catalog today, along with two new titles in the XBLA collection including R.I.P.D. The Game and Mars: War Logs.
If you still play Call of Duty: Black Ops II religiously, you’ll probably want to pick up one (or all) of the game’s six new skin packs, going for 160 MSP a pop.
There’s also a Capcom Publisher Sale, offering up to 75 percent off on a bunch of their games, as well as discounts on Crysis 3: The Lost Island (600 MSP), Kinect Central: Kinectimals: Now with BEARS! (400 MPS) and Kinect Central: Leedmees (320 MSP).
In the Deal of the Week, though, it’s all about ripping spines and killing terrorists. Loads of content within the Mortal Kombat universe is being discounted, including DLC for last year’s reboot and Mortal Kombat Arcade. The Tom Clancy series is also seeing discounts of up to 50 percent off for games like EndWar, GRAW 2, H.A.W.X. 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2.
There may not be a whole lot of “new” content hitting the Marketplace this week, but you can’t go wrong with a free game for Gold members and discounts on a lot of great older titles.
