ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks and id Software, has added another studio to its flock. Today they announced the purchase of Arkane Studios.
Arkane was founded in 1999 and maintains offices in both Lyon, France and Austin. They previously released action RPG's Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. 2K Games also tapped them to help with BioShock 2's development.
ZeniMax and Arkane are already collaborating on a project. No details were provided, however. It's possible that it's somehow related to The Crossing, a first-person shooter that melded multiplayer and single-player action. Arkane put The Crossing's development on hold in 2009.
