Appaloosa Gets A Sequel If You Love It Enough

I really liked Ed Harris's Western Appaloosa that comes out this Friday-- and you'll be able to read all about it if I ever finish the review-- and I think I'd be willing to have another go 'round with the characters. If enough audience members feel the same way I do, we just might get that chance. Ed Harris told MTV that Robert B. Parker, the writer of the novel that Appaloosa is based on, has already written two sequels to the first book, and Harris might be willing to make them into one movie.

“Parker wrote two sequels to this, which I think could be combined into a sequel,” Harris said. “It would be interesting to investigate it.” MTV's article contains details of the second book, which are packed with spoilers for those who have yet to see Appaloosa, so I won't spoil them here. But one of the biggest pleasures of the movie is the rapport between Harris and his co-star, Viggo Mortensen, so the chance to see them riding the plains again as lawmen would be more than welcome. I doubt Appaloosa will do the kind of box office that automatically results in a sequel, but it would be nice if it developed a fanbase that would be willing to show up for a round two.
