Borat Gets A Release That Is Very Nice

If you're eager to see Borat and you live in say, Roanoke, you may be disappointed. 20th Century Fox has just announced their release plan for their film, and rather than blowing their load with one instant, wide release they're going with the tiered release pattern usually reserved for Oscar winners that no one watches.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan will debut in 800 theaters scattered across the United States and Canada on opening weekend November 3rd. Maybe that sounds kind of small, but Borat wasn't considered a major film until all the recent buzz around it turned into a hype-factory. 800 theaters is actually pretty significant for a little low-budget movie like this.

The good news for those of you living in Roanoke with Cinema Blend's own Rafe Telsch is that tiered release usually means it'll go wider later on. It may not be playing near you on November 3rd, but it will be eventually. It's worth the wait. Hell, it's worth the drive. Grab your bear, hop in your truck, and make a road trip out of it.
