Ever since the new Andrew Dominik film Cogan's Trade changed its title to Killing Them Softly, the project has found itself as the butt of a few jokes. While the movie still looks cool and has a stellar cast, it's hard not to think about the Fugees song "Killing Me Softly" when thinking about the title. The silver lining to the story is that Killing Them Softly isn't just some random grouping of words that have nothing to do with the movie. Instead, it's actually a very important part: it's how Brad Pitt prefers to murder people.

The film had its world premiere earlier this week at the Cannes Film Festival, and while the movie won't be hitting theaters in the States until September IGN has a new clip from the movie that better explains its strange name. Check it out.

A reunion between Pitt and Dominik, who previously worked together on The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, Killing Them Softly stars Brad Pitt as Jackie Cogan, a mob enforcer who is called in to head an investigation when a mafia-run poker game gets held up. The film's cast also includes Sam Shepard, James Gandolfini, Scoot McNairy, Ray Liotta, and Richard Jenkins. See it in theaters on September 21st and read more about it in our Blend Film Database.
