New Conjuring 2 Video Goes Inside The True Story

The Conjuring 2 is coming out soon and if you weren’t already getting chills from the trailers maybe this new featurette will do the trick. It goes into the real-life story the film is based on, in which two young sisters are haunted in their home in Enfield, England by some kind of evil spirit.

I won’t debate whether or not this family was really haunted or not, because - real or fake - I’m a little creeped out. That’s mainly from the footage of the movie, but it’s a good touch having the real people involved in the story playing parallel to the film. It’s legitimately freaky when Janet Hodgson (the girl who was possessed) shakes with fear while remembering what happened, and then seeing the girl in the film get spooked a man who jumps out of the darkness. Also, why did that room have so many crosses? One cross is usually enough, right? Is that just a normal decoration or is the demon having a little laugh?

For those who didn’t take Haunting 101 in high school, The Conjuring 2 (just like its predecessor) follows the tale of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, as they travel around the world investigating all manner of spooky happenings. The duo’s investigations were the basis for the novel and eventual film The Amityville Horror.

The Conjuring 2 is based on their time in Enfield, England, in which they visited two young girls who were the subjects of a demonic possession in 1977. The case is unique in that it garnered a lot of media attention, as can be seen by the newspaper clips shown in the above video. One of the girls was recorded speaking in spooky "possessed" voice and she supposedly was seen levitating in the air at some points. I don’t know if she was ever found crammed inside of the wall growling at people, but I suppose the movie has to take some liberties. The Enfield haunting was also featured in a 2015 Sky Atlantic series called The Enfield Haunting starring Timothy Spall.

The Conjuring 2 is directed by James Wan (Furious 7, Aquaman) and stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. The horror sequel hits theaters this summer on June 10 and will likely make you wary of dark corners for at least a few days.
