It’s been a whole two weeks since we’ve heard any new Spider-Man gossip. Clearly the moment Marc Webb stepped foot on the red carpet for the Spirit Awards that was going to change. Webb was certainly minding his words while chatting with MTV, but did offer a few comments on his highly anticipated 2012 3D superhero reboot.

Webb called Peter Parker a ‘legend’ and explained, "That mythology is appealing to me and it has been for a long time. It's just a dream come true." But of course, that dream was someone else’s just a few years back. When questioned about the original series’ director Sam Raimi, Webb humbly said, “He did something fantastic, but I do think the mythology of Spider-Man is wide and vast, and there's more opportunity to explore that cinematically.”

Now to the good stuff, casting. He dodged questions of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s potential involvement by saying, “We're casting a wide net. That's really all I can say at this point.” He got a little chattier when discussing collaborating with James Cameron and Avatar producer Jon Landau. "I talked to James and Jon a little bit." He further explained, "It's such an enormous undertaking. I'd like to talk to those guys more. They're fantastic representatives for 3-D and we'll be talking more about that."

I saved the best for last. Webb concludes the interview by saying, "In the coming weeks, more will unfold." Yes! Something to look forward to! The biggest development will certainly be when the man behind the mask is announced, but at this point, any official developments will be welcomed.
