It looks like UK film makers are making an effort to get themselves on the horror map. The much anticipated Daniel Radcliffe vehicle Woman In Black will be finding its way to theaters this winter, and before that Nick Murphy’s The Awakening will try its best to scare your pants off.
The Awakening follows the work of Florence Cathcart in 1921 as she takes every effort to disprove the appearance of ghosts at a boarding school in the aftermath of World War I. The problem for her is that, you guessed it, this isn’t a hoax and her world is turned upside down. A few new pictures have appeared across the pond at the HeyUGuys Blog and one puts stars Rebecca Hall and Dominic West in a sticky situation. Check them out below.
The pictures show off the super high contrast ratio we’ve all come to know and love in our horror movies, especially ones lit by candlelight. You certainly wouldn’t shoot a romantic comedy with shadows that dark.
Those HBO fans out there will be happy to see West continuing work after his long stint on The Wire--West has also appeared in 300 and can be seen in the upcoming John Carter. Rebecca Hall may not be as recognizable, but she’s making a great name for herself with her stellar performances in Frost/Nixon and most recently Ben Affleck’s The Town. The pair can be seen in The Awakening first at the London Film Festival, and then in theaters November 11th.
