Fantastic Four Getting Rebooted Already?

The general assumption from producers all over Hollywood is that superhero movies are guaranteed bank. Never mind that they cost a fortune and are usually as silly as they are exciting; if it runs around in spandex and rescues things, it must be destined to be onscreen.

That seemed to be the cynical logic behind the two Fantastic Four movies, which were box office hits but never particularly well-loved by critics or audiences. But apparently, "just OK" is no longer good enough now that The Dark Knight has shown where the real superhero money can be found. IESB is reporting that 20th Century Fox already wants to reboot The Fantastic Four, not even two years after Rise of the Silver Surfer grossed $290 million worldwide.

That means no Jessica Alba, no Michael Chiklis, and no Tim Story, who usually got the blame for making the whole series so bland to begin with. It's worth giving Fox credit for maybe wanting to rectify past mistakes, but maybe a better way of doing that would be making something new, and learn once and for all that Jessica Alba does not make a convincing superhero. I know we complain all the time about how there are no original ideas left, but I really wasn't trying to get them to prove just how much more unoriginal it can get. Yikes.
