You may have guessed this, but the Academy Awards are a big deal, and hosting the Oscars is an even bigger deal. (Okay, maybe not as big a deal as winning, but still...) Comedian Chris Rock has the honor and responsibility this year, and he’s spent the last few weeks preparing. How precisely does he prepare for this Herculean task, you might ask? Well, he went through the drive thru at McDonalds for a hearty meal. Watch it for yourself in the video Rock posted to social media.
We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and on a day like this, you’re going to want some solid, stick-to-your-ribs kind of food, which is precisely what Chris Rock ordered from the drive thru at the Golden Arches. At least according to the video he posted to his Twitter account.
Hot cakes, sausage, and orange juice, that’s some straight up Academy Awards host fuel right there. It’s probably a good idea to start out full, as Chris Rock is going to be running around all night, from the opening monologue, to introducing the presenters, to signing off for the evening and sending all the celebrities on their way to raging after parties. Who knows when or where he’s going to have the chance to stuff some food in his face behind the scenes.
Eating a sturdy pre-game meal isn’t the only thing Chris Rock is doing to prepare for the big night. He’s writing most, if not all, of his own material for the night, so expect his sharp, biting humor to shine through. And he’s made extensive notes for himself, like this helpful tidbit that he also shared on social media.
That feels like fairly sound advice, doesn’t it? Or is he also telling fans that they need to get ready, that we, as an audience need to prepare ourselves? What kind of jokes does he have in store for us? Well, we’re only a few moments away from finding out, but with all the controversy surrounding the Oscars this year, there’s plenty of material for him to mock, lampoon, satirize, and openly rip to shreds. Can’t wait to see what he brings to the table.
