First Look At Audrey Tautou As Coco Chanel

It’s been seven years since Amelie came out, but Audrey Tautou still hasn’t been able to shake the character from her public persona. Every time we see her in public we want her to have that short bob and devilish twinkle in her eye. Well, really, can you blame us?

Maybe the key to moving away from one iconic figure that you played is to play a different one. Tautou will be giving it a shot in Coco, a biopic about fashion icon Coco Chanel. Tautou is playing the designer as a young woman in the 1910’s, and JoBlo has the first look at how she looks playing the role. Dressed in menswear and staring soulfully at the camera, I’m betting there are few men would complain about how she looks no matter what role she’s playing.

Coco seems like it could be a great role for Tautou, a bright and energetic figure who is still nothing like the Parisian who goes around making other peoples’ lives better. It’s got to be better than the role she was stuck with in The Da Vinci Code, at least, and hey, if Tom Hanks can recover from that movie, she can too. Plus, as JoBlo pointed out, playing a French icon turned into Oscar success for Marion Cotillard, and doesn’t Tautou finally deserve a statue of her own?
