Greta Gerwig Out Of Noah Baumbach's While We're Young, Cate Blanchett In

With his While We’re Young already in a bit of upheaval after his wife, Jennifer Jason Leigh, filed for divorce and then dropped out, Noah Baumbach has encountered another snafu. Greta Gerwig, probably best known for being in Baumbach’s last movie Greenberg or for looking like a less attractive Chloe Sevigny, has now been forced to withdraw because of a scheduling conflict. But with the loss comes a gain, as Cate Blanchett has joined the cast alongside James Franco and Ben Stiller, provided they all remaining on board.

According to Thompson on Hollywood, producer Scott Rudin has also admitted While We’re Young’s funding still isn’t quite in place, nor is a distributor officially on board, but with numerous Independent Spirit Award Nominations for Greenberg and three quarters of a talented cast already in place, it’s hard to imagine those issues won’t eventually disappear.

While We’re Young is the story of a documentary filmmaker (Stiller) and his wife (Blanchett) that are pushed to loosen up a bit by a younger couple (Franco and Not Gerwig). Knowing Baumbach, there will also be pretentiousness and sad eyes thrown in there somewhere.
