Guardians Of The Galaxy Shows Off Some Badass Weaponry In New Featurette

Visiting the set of Guardians of the Galaxy as part of a press event last Fall, I got to see some extraordinary things, from beautiful concept art mapping out the progression of the movie to Ronan's fully constructed throne on the Dark Aster (not to mention that we got to interview Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan in their full costumes). Touring through all the various departments, however, perhaps my favorite of all was the Props Department, where Prop Master Barry Gibbs (not to be confused with Bee Gees singer Barry Gibb) gave us a close up look at all the little gadgets, devices and weapons used by the characters in the film. Now, thanks to the featurette you see above, my experience has now been delivered in video form.

With Guardians of the Galaxy having finished its second weekend with an astonishingly small 56% drop from its record setting opening, Marvel is celebrating with the release of this new behind-the-scenes look at the epic comic book movie/space adventure. There's a ton of great stuff on display, but the highlights are the weapons held by the lead characters, namely Star-Lord's blasters:

Gamora's sword:

Drax's daggers:

And, of course, Rocket's Hadron Enforcer

Guardians of the Galaxy Weapons

This Guardians of the Galaxy featurette unfortunately doesn't delve into any of the costumes and weapons of the villain characters, which is too bad given how pretty fantastic they looked. Ronan was quite a formidable foe with his hammer, Nebula was pretty skilled with her twin blades, and Korath carried one seriously big gun. Perhaps there will be an extended version of this feautrette made available on Blu-ray/DVD release that will explore the equipment carried by those looking to spread fear, terror and death in the universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy is currently in theaters.
