Guardians Of The Galaxy Unite In Three New Stills

While the wait is becoming slightly intolerable, we are now just a little more than 24 hours away from the debut trailer for Marvel Studios and director James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. The spot is set to premiere on tomorrow night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! at 11:35 ET/PT and will pop online shortly after that, and we couldn't be more excited. Because there has been so little official information released about the movie, it's kind of hard to even know what to expect - but these new stills from USA Today definitely help.

Up top we have a brand new shot of the entire Guardians team - and for the first time they aren't in a police lineup. From left to right there's Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Peter Quill a.k.a. Star Lord (Chris Pratt), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Drax The Destroyer (Dave Bautista). It's hard to say exactly where they are in this picture, but if I had to put money on it I would either say prison (which is where they all met), or aboard a spaceship. Speaking of which...

Next up we have a shot of Star-Lord's prized vessel, The Milano. Described by the newspaper as "the muscle car of spacecraft," the ship looks like it is more built for quick maneuvering than destruction. Below the ship in this image is the planet of Xandar, the home of the intergalactic police agency known as the Nova Corps.

Finally we have a nice little close-up of Star-Lord, who is the main protagonist of the story. The character is half alien and half human and was brought into space when he was just nine years old - meaning that all of his knowledge of Earth is pretty much limited to what he knew about back in the 80s. He travels with a mysterious orb artifact, which proves to be trouble when alien villains Ronan The Accuser (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) start hunting for him so that they can take it. And did I mention that the orb has the power to destroy the galaxy? Said Pratt about his character,

"Being stuck in space with no accountability makes for a strange combination of youthful vibrancy and cluelessness in a childlike man. He does some things that most people wouldn't get away with. But part of his arc is being willing to essentially sacrifice himself for the greater good of other people."

We'll have the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer online for you as soon as it becomes available online, and you can be sure that we will be backing it up with all the nerdy, geeky deep analysis you can stomach. Stay tuned and in the meantime learn more about the team with our handy guide!
