The Hilarious Way A Comedian Fixed His New Movie's Terrible Poster

Chances are you didn’t really notice when the poster for Hit By Lightning was originally released. Why would you? Jon Cryer, Stephanie Szostak and Will Sasso’s dark comedy hardly looks like it is about to set the cinematic world alight. Here's what the original poster looks like...

But now Sasso, who is probably mostly known for his turn as Curly in the Farrelly Brothers’ The Tree Stooges, has rejigged the awkward looking poster to make it umpteen times more hilarious, and in doing so he’s probably convinced a few people to actually watch the movie. Check out the Tweet he posted, which includes his new and improved version of the poster...

The original poster features all three of the film’s leads, Two and a Half Men’s Cryer, Iron Man 3’s Stephanie Szostak, and MADtv’s Sasso, lying in bed together, above the tagline: "Finding Love Can Be Murder." Cryer also has a gun in his hand just to reinforce how dark this comedy is, while it’s tagline also pretty much proves just how unfunny it is too. Not only was the poster criticized for just how unnatural the trio look, but it is also probably the worst Photoshop job since someone plastered Sarah Palin’s head onto a woman in a bikini carrying a gun. Szostak’s head is almost a completely different skin color to her arms, Cryer’s chest is so hairless he looks as if he’s just been born, and Sasso look as if he’s either exercising or trying to figure out the answer to a really hard maths question.

But after reading the scathing comments of a particular Reddit thread that was ambiguously entitled, "The new poster for Hit By Lightning might be the worst poster ever released," Sasso decided to take matters into his own hands. Not only did he add a bit more detail to explain what he was really getting up to in his friend’s bed, but he even gave Hit By Lightning a catchy new title too.

Never has a shit joke been so well executed. Sasso’s intervention will surely only help the comedy, which had failed to really draw any media attention or interest ahead of its video on demand release in late October. But even if it doesn’t, surely he’s found out that his true calling in life is to re-design shitty movie posters and turn them into gold. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!
