It's Mark Wahlberg Vs. Russell Crowe In New Broken City Trailer

Mark Wahlberg has a busy 2013 coming up and this week has seen a bit of an advertising push for two of them. The actor will appear in four movies next year, and while we still haven't seen any footage from Peter Berg's Lone Survivor or Baltasar Kormákur's 2 Guns, the first trailer for Michael Bay's Pain and Gain premiered yesterday, and today delivers a brand new spot for the crime thriller Broken City, which will be out at the very start of the year.

The latest film from director Allen Hughes (The Book of Eli), who works from a script by Brian Tucker, Broken City has a strong cast that, beyond Wahlberg, includes Russell Crowe, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kyle Chandler, Jeffrey Wright and Barry Pepper. Check out the trailer below, courtesy of IGN.

Wahlberg stars in the movie as a former cop named Billy Taggart who is brought in by New York City's mayor (Crowe) for a job. Hiring Taggart as a private investigator, the mayor wants the hero to trail his wife (Zeta-Jones), thinking that she is cheating on him. But when Taggart catches the wife in the act and the lover winds up dead, he suddenly discovers that he is caught up in something much bigger than he thought. Broken City will be heading to theaters on January 18th - going up against Arnold Schwarzenegger's The Last Stand and the Guillermo del Toro-produced Mama - and for more about the movie, including news and stills, head on over to our Blend Film Database.
