Jaime King Talks Fanboy's Release

Jaime King is out promoting her new horror movie My Bloody Valentine 3D, which piqued the interest of even this horror-phobe and provided plenty to enjoy. But when I spoke to her on the phone earlier today, I couldn't resist asking her about Fanboys, the much-mistreated project on which she met her husband, director Kyle Newman. It's finally getting a release date on February 6, and King is beyond thrilled that the long nightmare is over.

"The best thing about Fanboys is I got a husband out of it, and the worst thing is watching my husband be tortured through the process,". As you may remember thanks to our constant reporting, Newman's original cut of Fanboys was butchered by the Weinstein Company when they thought the cancer subplot was too dark, and only re-instated after a massive online outcry convinced the Weinsteins the movie actually had a fanbase. King is convinced that, if it weren't for those rabblerousers like you and me, the movie never would been released the way Newman intended.

"It's a new day and age, " she insists. "The power of the web, the power of the youth, is so much stronger, and it was the most freeing and awesome thing to watch the fans-- if it weren't for the fans, and the Stop Darth Weinstein website, and the press saying we want [Newman's] cut, he wouldn't have gotten his cut back." Fanboys has the potential to be a bright spot amid the usually dismal early-winter releases, and I know there are plenty of fans who are just as relieved as King that Fanboys gets to finally see its day in theaters.
