Johnsons To Return

With Chevy Chase getting noticeably older every day I guess it’s time for someone else to pick up the mantle of the fallen Family Vacation films. Sadly it looks like the front runner is Cedric the Entertainer, who already had an outing in that territory with Johnson Family Vacation.

It looks like Cedric is getting his second chance now. According to Hollywood Reporter, Fox Searchlight has given the green light to a sequel for the family film, and hired Kings Ransom writer Wayne Conley to pen the follow up movie to the 2004 Family Vacationesque movie.

Considering the first movie made over twice its $12 million dollar budget, it should come as no surprise that a sequel has been green lit. Isn’t that the rule these days? What is surprising is that Fox isn’t asking original scribes Todd Jones and Earl Richey Jones to pen the sequel, especially considering they have no current projects listed on IMBD.
