In the past couple weeks there was plenty of worry that we would have to wait until 2014 for our opportunity to see Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street, but those fears have been put to rest. We learned last week that the movie has been forced to move from November 15th to Christmas Day, but it will be staying in the 2013 Oscar race, and to celebrate Paramount Pictures has released a brand new trailer over on Apple. And all I can really say is... wow.
From the sight of Jonah Hill's ridiculously shiny white teeth to breaking the fourth wall to an absolutely perfect use of the song "Hang You From The Heavens" by The Dead Weather, there is absolutely nothing I don't love about this trailer. Much like the debut spot that first came out back in June - which thumped to the beat of Kanye West - the energy in this movie looks like it is totally off the charts, and - even more amazingly - it looks absolutely hilarious. Reports have said that the full runtime of the film is very long, some saying the first cut was a full three hours, so I'll be curious to see if it can actually keep that tempo up for the entire story, but it damn sure looks like it's going to try.
Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, whose memoirs were adapted into the film, the movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a success on Wall Street who breaks off on his own and winds up creating one of the biggest firms around. The amount of money rolling in allows him to live a life of extreme excess with his closest confidants... but it all goes to hell when the FBI starts snooping around and discovers that just about everything about Jordan's operation is illegal. Terrence Winter, best known for his work on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos, wrote the screenplay, and Scorsese has assembled one of his finest ensembles ever with a cast that includes Margot Robbie, Matthew McConaughey , Jon Favreau, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jean Dujardin P.J. Byrne, and Kenneth Choi.
We here at Cinema Blend couldn't be more excited for the film, but what did you think of the new trailer? Answer our poll and tell us what's going through your mind in the comments section below!
