Subscribe To Michael Bay Bails Mid CES Presentation After Teleprompter Fails Updates

One of the biggest blockbusters of 2014 is expected to be Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction, but while the movie won't be out until late June, audiences were actually going to be shown the first footage earlier today. The director was a guest on stage during Samsung’s CES press conference, and while he was supposed to debut some exclusive footage from the upcoming movie on the company's new Ultra HD TV, that plan fell apart when a teleprompter malfunction led to Bay leaving the stage earlier than expected. Samsung streamed the entire event on their YouTube channel and you can watch the Michael Bay portion in the video embed above.

Following the event, Bay actually took to his personal website to explain what went down when he was on stage. You can read his note, titled "CES," in its entirety below:
Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES – I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.

But I’m doing a special curved screen experience with Samsung and Transformers 4 footage that will be traveling around the world.

Unless that touring footage winds up leaking online, it would seem that now is not the time for everyone to see the first footage from The Age of Extinction. This, of course, then begs the question: when do we get our first look?. It has been confirmed that Paramount Pictures has purchased ad time during the Super Bowl, so it's practically guaranteed that the big game will deliver some big footage.

The new movie, which was written by Transformers: Dark of the Moon scribe Ehren Kruger, is a semi-reboot of the franchise that will no longer follow the adventures of Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky. Instead, the new sequel will center on a mechanic named Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) who, along with his daughter, makes a discovery that makes him a target of Autobots, Decepticons and the government alike. Peter Cullen is back to voice Optimus Prime, while the new supporting cast of humans includes names like Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Titus Welliver, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz and Sophia Myles. You'll be able to see the film when it hits theaters on June 27th, so stay tuned for news, trailers, images, posters and more.
