Michael Clarke Duncan Joins Broken Lizard's Latest

Michael Clarke Duncan seemed to have a big career ahead of him for a while there. He was the best part of Armageddon, and he got nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Green Mile-- those healing hands deserved a gold statue, don't you think? But when you're pretty much known for your giant size and deep voice rather than acting versatility, it's probably hard to find a lot of roles.

Now, though, Duncan is trying his hand at comedy, joining up with the Broken Lizard comedy troupe for their next film, The Slammin' Salmon. According to Variety, Duncan will play a former boxing star who owns a restaurant, and pits his waiters against one another to see who can earn the most money in one night. The winner gets $10,000, and the loser has to box against the boss. The movie gets its title from the boxer's nickname, which I am now officially adopting as my own.

Broken Lizard is the group of people who brought you Super Troopers and Beerfest, so in case the title wasn't enough to tip you off, you know this isn't going to be a serious expose about restaurants or boxers. I kind of like the idea of Michael Clarke Duncan joining in on the fun-- he was also in Talladega Nights, so the guy's no newcomer to comedy. The Broken Lizard guys haven't gathered too much attention with their last few efforts, so here's hoping those healing hands can bring in the box office gold as well.
