The Minimoys Find Their Voices

The Live-Action CGI fantasy genre is alive and kicking, proving to be a worthwhile investment for several big budget studios. The Weinstein Company may be newly established, but after years at Miramax, the head honcho brothers know where to lay their dough.

According to Hollywood Reporter, they have nabbed the English rights to the movie Arthur and the Minimoys, based on the popular French kid’s book by Luc Besson (The Professional). Besson adapted the book for the screen and is also wearing the director’s hat.

The film recently landed new vocal talent, including the odd assortment of Madonna, Snoop Dogg, and David Bowie. As long as Madonna promises not to sing or discuss Kaballah, we should all be in the clear. The story is about a 10-year-old boy named Arthur (Freddie Highmore) who tries to save the home of his grandma (Mia Farrow) by looking for his grandpa’s treasure in, where else, the land of the tiny Minimoys.

”We are thrilled to be bringing this exciting adventure story to the big screen”, Harvey Weinstein told the press. "‘Arthur' is an enchanting and heroic tale and will be enjoyed by family audiences everywhere.” Fingers crossed on that one.
