Patton Oswalt is easily one of the best stand-up comedians around, but now he's building quite the film career. While he's been worthy of your attention since he starred in 2009's Big Fan, his career took a major step forward with his critically-acclaimed turn in Jason Reitman's Young Adult last year. And hell, you might have just seen him in the first trailer for Seeking A Friend For The End of the World that we just posted. But his dance card isn't full just yet and now it looks like he'll be joining the remake of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Variety reports that Oswalt is now in talks to join the comedy, which is already set to star Ben Stiller and Kristen Wiig. Stiller is also directing the movie, his first time behind the camera on a feature since 2008's Tropic Thunder. Based on the 1947 Danny Kaye film, Stiller will play Walter, a meek man working for LIFE magazine who constantly daydreams and fantasizes about wild adventures. One day, however, his life completely changes when he goes on the hunt for a missing photograph negative and ends up having the adventure he's always wished for. In the film Oswalt will be playing a character named Todd who helps Walter set up an online dating profile. The movie has been in some stage of development since 2007, but will finally be ready to start production this April.

Sadly it doesn't sound like this will be a huge part for Oswalt, but hopefully it's only a matter of time before he's headlining his own comedies. Lord knows he has the talent.
