We learned late last month that Quentin Tarantino’s next film The Hateful Eight will be going into production at the start of next year and will be arriving in theaters sometime in 2015. Given that schedule and all the crazy drama behind the project, it’s hard to imagine that anything has actually been shot yet. But that’s not stopping the release of the movie’s first teaser trailer.
SlashFilm has gathered some interesting information together that seems to reveal that the first ever trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight will be attached to prints of Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, which arrives in theaters next week. Unfortunately, it looks like the clip won’t be arriving online any time soon.
The first piece of evidence comes from the Alberta Film Ratings Board site, which posts classifications for all upcoming trailers. Looking at the page, you can see The Hateful Eight clearly listed, registering a "G" rating and a runtime of 1:40. Sadly, no other information is available beyond that.
So why is it assumed that the teaser will be attached to Sin City: A Dame To Kill For? SlashFilm has gotten word from theater employees who have told them that DCP distribution of the Robert Rodriguez film will include the clip. Furthermore, they also found this interesting image on a Weinstein Company page directed at distributors:
Sadly, this is where the bad news comes in. The Weinstein site reportedly says that "the trailer will be available packaged with the Sin City: A Dame to Kill For feature only, and that it will not be online." Basically, if you want your first look at Quentin Tarantino’s new film, you’re going to have to pay $8.
Written and directed by the Django Unchained filmmaker, The Hateful Eight is expected to feature a cast that includes Bruce Dern, Walter Goggins, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell and more. The story is set in the Old West and follows a group of strangers who have been forced together in a haberdashery to take shelter from a terrible blizzard. Similar to Reservoir Dogs, the movie will find that folks with hot tempers and attitudes tend to not do well when locked in a room together.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks, as we will be sure to have more information about the Hateful Eight trailer as soon as it comes across our desk!
