RealD Finally Distributing Kid-Sized 3D Glasses

Though a lot of people seem to think 3D first arrived in theaters with Avatar, it’s actually been around and being used on major Hollywood blockbusters for five or six years. And in that time, there hasn’t been a single, solitary innovation in the glasses they hand out at the theater. So if you’ve been to a 3D movie at any point in that time, you’ve probably seen little kids struggling with oversize glasses. Yep, in all that time no one ever stopped and thought “hey kids heads are smaller than adult heads” and made glasses which might actually fit on their faces.

Now, finally, we can check at least that one problem off the laundry list of 3D format annoyances. RealD has announced they’ll begin making special, kid-sized RealD 3D glasses available nationwide in the USA and Canada, for all RealD showings after June 18th. They’re just like the glasses your kids are used to, except they’ll actually be able to use them.

“The little ones will be able to comfortably enjoy the great summer movies coming out in RealD 3D wearing glasses designed just for them,” says RealD president Joseph Peixoto, seemingly unaware that by using the words “little ones” he makes himself sound like the witch who ate Hansel and Gretal. Open up your wallets parents and start giving him your money.
