This Russian Kid Is A Real-Life Magneto, Watch Him Attract Metal

Mutants. They just might walk among us. Yes, you would freak out if a blue-skinned, long-tailed neighbor suddenly teleported away from you with a BAMF! Or if your teacher suddenly popped claws with a SNIKT! But what about this Russian adolescent, who harnesses the power of magnetism, a la one Erik Lehnsherr? Watch him in action in this amazing clip:

The NY Post has the story on 12-year-old Nikolai Kryaglyachenko, who was leaning against a lamppost on his walk home from school one day when he was electrocuted due to the post having faulty wiring. The jolt of electricity reportedly blasted Kryaglyachenko clear across the street, though he didn’t realize his newfound abilities until the next day. I kind of want to let this modern day Peter Parker tell you what happened next in his own words:

When I woke up the next day and got out of bed, I found some coins that had been lying on the mattress had stuck to my body. Then, when I was having breakfast and dropped my spoon, it stuck to my chest."

This dude is Magneto.

If you had any additional doubt that you are witnessing the birth of a superhero, listen to Nikolai Kryaglyachenko’s statements about his new powers:

I can do things I couldn’t do before, but I don’t have a lot of control over it. Even when I do not want to do it, I still attract things. Once I even attracted a glass — it just moved towards me."

And if Unbreakable taught me anything, it’s that across town, another boy suffered a similar accident, and now has the power to read minds. These two will meet on a battleground, and the fate of humanity rests in the balance. Or, you know, Kryaglyachenko will just keep sticking soup spoons to his tummy. This world is a dark and mysterious place.
