When directors find success, it's common that they will bring back the actors that helped them, and that's exactly what Andrew Dominik is doing with his next feature. After breaking out with his film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Dominik was quick to add both Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck, who played the title films in the director's last feature, to the cast of his next film, Cogan's Trade, and now he's added yet another.
Deadline reports that Sam Rockwell has joined the cast of the movie about a robbery that takes place during a high-stakes poker game. Though Rockwell is committed, it is unknown what role he will be playing. The project is described as a comic heist film and it will also have an ensemble cast, a la Ocean's 11, so you can be sure that this won't be the last we hear of casting. The film will begin shooting in Louisiana this March.
There does seem to be conflict regarding Affleck's role in the film, as this newest report says that he is only rumored, but hopefully that will all be cleared up at some point. There does seem to be quite a few similarities between this film and Ocean's 11 - Pitt and Affleck, heist during gambling/at a casino, ensemble cast, etc. - but here's hoping that they can make an original and fun project. After all, who doesn't love a good heist film?
