If you're looking to get excited for an upcoming indie, The Way, Way Back is likely a very good choice. A coming-of-age tale written and directed by Jim Rash and Nat Faxon (who won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay earlier this year), the film has a brilliant cast that includes Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell, Toni Collette, Amanda Peet, Allison Janney, and Rob Corddry, and the script has already gotten attention, having been featured on 2007's Black List (the annual list of the most popular unproduced screenplays in Hollywood). The film only recently completed production and won't be arriving until next year, but today delivers the first official still.

The New York Times has written a piece about the upcoming film and has not only posted the first still, but also the first behind-the-scenes photo of the writer/directors. Check them out below and head over to the source to see them full size.

The comedy stars Liam James (Psych, The Killing) as Duncan, a teenager who strikes up an unusual friendship with the manager of a local waterpark (Rockwell). Collette will play Duncan's unattentive mother while Carrell will be his adulterous stepfather.

The Way, Way Back does not yet have a distributor or a release date, but hopefully it will find its way into some festivals next year, get some attention, and find its way into a theater near you.
