Sleep Dealer Trailer And Images

The Sleep Dealer debuted at Sundance in January and apparently garnered some good reviews, but none of them from our CB team. I think they were secretly snowboarding and drinking hot chocolate and just couldn't be bothered. But regardless, The Sleep Dealer comes out in April, and now has a trailer and some snazzy new images to get you excited.

IGN has the trailer, and you can check out the images and poster below. I hate to be negative about a movie I've barely even heard of, but Sleep Dealer looks a little too much like a Matrix knock-off for my taste. It takes place in a future in which a wall has sealed the border between Mexico and the United States, and for some reason that inspires Mexicans to hook up to some Matrix-esque grid, in which they can do manual labor in the U.S. by controlling robots from right there in Mexico. And some other stuff happens, obviously, but it's a little hard to tell what's going on in the quickly edited trailer.

BR> But hey, there are lots of explosions and high-tech looking gizmos, and Guillermo del Toro apparently liked it, which says something. I think I'll need a little more evidence before I accept that this is anything other than second-rate sci-fi, but I'm also ready and willing to be impressed. Check out the images and poster in the gallery below and see if they strike your fancy.
