Diary of a Wimpy Kid sounds like the kind of movie that's impossible to market. If you want to see it, does that make you a wimpy kid too? But Fox is doing its best to get the wimps in theaters by adapting the comic series, and now they've hired Thor Freudenthal to direct the movie.
Freudenthal doesn't have a hit to his name just yet, but he's directing Paramount's Hotel for Dogs, which will likely be a success if Americans are as dog crazy as they seem. THR says that Freudenthal is also set to direct the young-adult fantasy Measle and the Wrathmonk for Warner Bros. Provided Wimpy Kid doesn't turn out to be, uh, Wimpy, Freudenthal looks likely to be entertaining your kids for years to come.
