Source Code is a time travel movie, sort of. Think Quantum Leap meets Groundhog Day and you’ll have some idea of what to expect from director Duncan Jones’ latest film. But here’s something that should give you time travel fans a little something extra to geek out about. At least some element of the movie seems to be working on Doc Brown’s Back to the Future time travel rules. Or at least that’s my explanation for what’s going on in this new Source Code clip. Much like the Delorean after a successful jump, Jake Gyllenhaal suddenly seems very, very cold.
In the snippet you’re about to see, Gyllenhaal’s character has just returned from one of his leaps. As you can tell, he’s a bit frozen. He’s given new, terrifying information and authorized to do something with it. Take a look:
Source Code will have its worldwide premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin this March, and I’ll be there to report back on how this plays out. Duncan Jones first film, Moon was a really great, genre entry so there’s reason to expect big things from this movie, even if the script wasn’t particularly exciting.
