Toy Story 4 Will Have Woody And Buzz Searching For An Old Friend

Some interesting details are finally emerging about the anticipated Toy Story followup. After learning that Toy Story 4 would involve a love story between the beloved cowboy toy, Woody, and the lovely Bo Peep, it now sounds as though an adventure is in story for Woody and his trusted space ranger pal. After all, if Woody and Bo are going to have a romance, Woody would need to find her first, right?

CinemaBlend's own Eric Eisenberg has reported back from D23 Expo 2015 today that Toy Story 4 will have Woody and Buzz heading out to find Bo Peep. The story is apparently inspired by director John Lasseter's wife Nancy. Lasseter announced that the film is a story about a relationship between Woody and Bo Peep.

As mentioned, we recently learned that the planned love story for Toy Story 4 would involve Bo Peep and Woody. This update is really just one more piece in the puzzle that is the once-unexpected sequel to the Toy Story trilogy. And though it doesn't really give us a lot to go on, it does tease the presumed adventure element of the film. And it's not all that surprising to know that Woody and Buzz would need to seek out Bo Peep, as we learned in Toy Story 3 that she was among the toys who departed Andy's room at some point between Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3.

Voiced by Annie Potts, Bo Peep was not technically a toy at all, as she was actually part of a lamp in Andy's sister Molly's room. But she was introduced to us among the toys Andy plays with, and always seemed to have particular affection for Woody (Tom Hanks). He presumably returned the feelings, as he seemed particularly sad when her name came up at the beginning of Toy Story 3. Along with Etch and Wheezy, Bo Peep was among the toys who went on to some other owner, possibly during a spring cleaning or yard sale. Her actual fate is not revealed beyond that, but it's evident by the way Woody pauses and frowns that he's not quite over her departure.

It sounds like Toy Story 4 seeks to reunite Woody and Bo, and turn their relationship into a full-on toymance.

In addition to this excellent little nugget of plot, Disney-Pixar also announced that composer Randy Newman is set to return. If you didn't already have "You've Got A Friend in Me" in your head as you thought about the next Toy Story movie, that should do it for you!

Directed by John Lasseter, produced by Galyn Susman and written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, Toy Story 4 will arrive in theaters June 16, 2017.
