Weekend Box Office

The video game sequel was tops at the box office this weekend bringing in more than twice than its competition. But the real story here isn’t any of the big studio releases. It’s Napoleon Dynamite. As an independent film it was released in select cities last June and gradually got wider and wider. Now, in September... three months to the day after it opened in New York and L.A...Napoleon Dynamite has broken into the top ten.

Next week look for Paramount’s cut & paste effects movie Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow to take the top slot. Also next week... let’s hope you like sports. Tennis with Kirsten Dunst or Baseball with Bernie Mac. Take your pick. Anyway, enough yappin’, here is this week’s top ten...
