We're not sure if he's fast, but Dwayne Johnson is definitely furious. The star of Fast 8 recently made headlines when he took to social media to call out one of his male co-stars from the upcoming installment in the long-running Fast & Furious series -- specifically referring to the mysterious actor as a "candy ass." Fans of the franchise have scrambled to figure out who The People's Champion specifically has a beef with, but they've met with little success. Now it seems that his co-star Tyrese Gibson has taken the initiative and issued a statement to remove his name from the hit list. He wrote:
In a recent Instagram post, Tyrese Gibson has endeavored to get ahead of this controversy by coming out and asserting that Dwayne Johnson's beef is most definitely not with him. He explains that he has no idea which of his co-stars Dwayne Johnson has a feud with, but he also might comment on it if he did. (Unless he mis-typed... very possible.) Going even further, he seems to at the very least take The Rock's side and point out that Johnson is one of the most "professional," as well as one of the most "humble" people that he has ever worked with.
If any other celebrity had made a post like Dwayne Johnson's, then we likely wouldn't even be talking about it right now. Actors feud on set and publicly vent their frustrations all the time. However, for someone like Johnson, this seems incredibly out of character. The Rock has developed a reputation for professionalism and transparency over the course of his career, and as such this feud feels wholly unique when compared to everything that we know about him. To put it bluntly: it's not easy to get under the big guy's skin.
Tyrese Gibson took his Instagram post one step further by including a video of Dwayne Johnson singing happy birthday to Gibson's own daughter. Check out the whole clip below to see for yourself:
Of course, this post doesn't necessarily rule out Tyrese Gibson as a culprit in this mysterious feud, but it definitely takes the spotlight off of him. With such an enormous ensemble of macho male actors it could really be anyone, from Vin Diesel, to Jason Statham, or even Scott Eastwood. Gibson has worked with almost all of these Fast & Furious actors before on previous installments, so it's a difficult situation to get a proper read on. We do know that TMZ has reported that, while the culprit is unknown, it's likely NOT Ludacris or Tyrese. For now we just feel sorry for anyone unlucky enough to piss off someone as big as The Rock.
