Subscribe To Ocean’s Eight May Add A People Vs OJ Simpson Star Updates
After letting men handle the heists in 2001'sOcean's Eleven (a remake of the Rat Pack-led 1960 film Ocean's 11), 2004's Ocean's Twelve and 2007's Ocean's Thirteen, the women are taking the lead for the next Ocean's tale. Ocean's Eight has been building itself an impressive over the last few months, but they're not done adding talent. If all goes well, The People vs. OJ Simpson star Sarah Paulson will also be joining the fun.
Paulson is in early talks right now to join the Ocean's Eight cast. Unfortunately, Deadline didn't provide any details about who she would be playing in the movie, whether it's one of the main protagonists, the villain or a supporting player. If Paulson boards the project, she'll join a lineup that consists of Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina.
Sarah Paulson may not be as recognizable a name as most of the other people mentioned, but when it comes to acting, her skill is impressive. Her performance as prosecutor Marcia Clark in American Crime Story Season 1, a.k.a. The People vs. OJ Simpson, drew acclaim earlier this year, so much so that she's been nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie category. Beyond that, she's also impressed viewers for her roles on American Horror Story, and she's also been seen in 12 Years a Slave, Carol, Desperate Housewives and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. She would be a major score for the project, adding yet another talent to the roster.
No plot details have been released for Ocean's Eight yet, but like the previous Ocean's movies, audiences can expect to see a group of individuals, each with their own unique set of special skills, pulling off a heist that most others would consider impossible. Assuming Ocean's Eight follows a similar path as the previous Ocean's movies, the ladies will be trying to steal millions of dollars, either in Las Vegas or another flashy location, though again, we don't know yet whether Sarah Paulson's character will be part of the team. The movie will be directed by Free State of Jones' Gary Ross, who co-wrote the script with Olivia Milch. Steven Soderbergh, who helmed Ocean's Eleven, is involved as a producer. Because, Ocean's Eight is a spinoff of those previous movies rather than a full-on remake, it will retain the same kind of tone, so there should be a good mix of comedy mixed in with high stakes.
