Ben Affleck Backtracks On Solo Batman Movie’s Title

Ben Affleck Batman

If you're a fan of The Dark Knight, the last few weeks have likely been full of awesome news for you. Not only did we recently learn that Joe Manganiello will play the role of Deathstroke in the Batman solo movie, but we also seemingly learned that Ben Affleck has officially titled his upcoming film The Batman. However, it now seems that the title of the Batman solo film might not be quite as set in stone as we thought. Affleck explained:

I mentioned the other day... it's been around for a long time, the movie... there is no Batman movie happening yet, we're still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff. And someone said, 'what are you calling it?' and I had said, like, back when we were promoting another movie, I was like 'we don't have a name for it, we're just going with The Batman or Batman movie', and I said that, and everyone was like 'Affleck announces the title of his Batman movie.

During a recent Facebook Live interview with E! News video, Ben Affleck took a moment to clarify his recent comments on the progress of the Batman solo movie. Apparently we all jumped the gun a bit by assuming that the film had officially been titled The Batman. Although he has tentatively referred to the movie as The Batman, that doesn't necessarily mean that the first solo Batman film in the DCEU will actually feature that title when it finally hits theaters. He's still working on the film's development with Geoff Johns behind the scenes, and a definitive title is still a long way off.

It makes quite a bit of sense for Ben Affleck to let us know that the Batman solo movie might not actually be quite as far along as we had previously assumed. With movies like Wonder Woman, Justice League, and The Flash coming within the next few years, the DCEU slate is already fairly crowded. At this point we do not even have an official release date for the Batman solo film, and late 2018 feels like the earliest possible release window. The Dark Knight's next outing is on the way, but it's not quite as close as we thought.

Of course, we will still see plenty of The Caped Crusader within the next few DC movies. Not only will Batman play a prominent role in 2017's Justice League, but it's also rumored that Bruce Wayne will make a cameo appearance in Wonder Woman as well. That should keep us more than satisfied for the foreseeable future.

CinemaBlend will bring you any and all relevant details related to the Batman solo movie as more information becomes available to us. Whether or not Ben Affleck will actually title it _The Batman _remains up in the air, but that hasn't dampened our excitement for the upcoming film in the slightest.
