Subscribe To The Real Reason Deadpool Won't Be In Logan, According To Ryan Reynolds Updates
If you've watched the premiere trailer for Logan, then you know that it's not exactly going to be a film full of laughs. Instead, set to the tune of "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, the preview for upcoming blockbuster instead was mostly brutal and tense, suggesting that the movie will be quite the serious affair. It's a tone that's been specially constructed for Hugh Jackman's last outing as Wolverine - and according to Ryan Reynolds, it's why fans should give up hope that Deadpool is going to make any kind of cameo.
There has been a lot of Deadpool/Wolverine talk swirling around the internet these past couple of days thanks to a false rumor that has been spreading online - but now Ryan Reynolds has made a move to try and end the chatter. As he did yesterday to denounce the "Deadpool in Logan" story, the actor took to his personal Twitter account to explain why fans really shouldn't get their hopes up about seeing the Merc With The Mouth in James Mangold's new movie.
While there certainly are plenty of ways to make a great Wolverine and Deadpool movie (and hopefully we'll see it someday), it's pretty easy to see the point that Ryan Reynolds is making here. If the red-suited, foul-mouth anti-hero were to suddenly pop up in the middle of Logan and start cracking jokes and breaking the fourth wall, it would totally disrupt the serious and solemn tone that the movie is very clearly going for. And even if here were to only appear in one scene, after his cameo it would be incredibly challenging for the film to go back to what it was doing before.
As I wrote yesterday, it is unfortunate that Deadpool's star is rising just as Hugh Jackman is retiring his claws for good. Following the failure that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it would have been really great to see legitimate versions of the characters team-up/face-off in a well-made movie, but it doesn't look like that's ever going to actually happen. Perhaps we'll get the next best thing, and at some point in the future we'll get to see Deadpool work together with Logan's X-23 (Dafne Keen).
The Deadpool-less Logan is set to be released in theaters on March 3, 2017, and if reports can be believed, it won't be long until we get to see the next trailer for the blockbuster. Meanwhile, Deadpool 2 doesn't have an official release date yet, but 2018 is certainly looking like it could be a possibility. We should be hearing a lot more updates about that project in the coming weeks and months, so be sure to stay tuned here on Cinema Blend for all of the latest updates!
