We are one week away from the release of James Mangold's Logan, Hugh Jackman's last ride as Wolverine after 17 years and 9 movies. Fox knows that they have a hit on their hands (we gave it a rave in our review), so they screened it for critics in advance. This mean that it's getting harder and harder for those who haven't seen the movie to avoid spoilers on the film. One such major spoiler broke. We have it below. If you want to know, read on. If you don't, then leave. You have been warned!
The official motion picture soundtrack for Logan has been added to Amazon, and as is usually the case, the track listings reveal basically what happens in James Mangold's movie. "That's Not A Choo-Choo" suggests that a major scene will involve a locomotive, while each character -- from "Laura" to "Old Man Logan" -- get their own signature track. One character who gets a track? X-24. And then later, on Track 20, you can listen to "Logan vs. X-24." So yeah, that's a thing that happens in this movie.
What does X-24 refer to? It's the evolution of the experiments that led to the creation of X-23, the nickname for Laura (Dafne Keen) in the movie -- and in the comics. X-23 is born from a program meant to replicate the Weapon X program that birthed Wolverine, and Laura is just one of many mutants created by Rice (Richard E. Grant). X-24 is... another one of those mutants. Even if you have made it this far, there are still a few secrets surrounding X-24. So, let's just report that there IS an X-24 character in the movie, and that he/she/it will fight Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) in the movie. But HOW they encounter each other will be left up to you to discover in Logan.
In James Mangold's movie, Logan (Hugh Jackman) and Charles (Patrick Stewart) are surviving in a dismal future where mutantkind has been eliminated. They are woken out of their stupor when a young mutant, Laura (Dafne Keen), seeks out their assistance to be transported to the Dakotas for... a goal I don't want to reveal here. They will be opposed by both Rice and his brute enforcer, Pierce (Boyd Holbrook). It's Wolverine's final adventure. It serves as a fantastic introduction to the amazing character of X-23. And it opens in theaters on March 3, so grab your tickets and get there!
