The Force Is Not With This Star Wars Baby Announcement

People often try to find fun and creative ways to let their friends and family know that they're expecting a new baby. One couple recently decided to use their love of Star Wars to make their announcement. While we can appreciate the sentiment, one wonders if there might not have been a better way to do this, as this particular setup implies some fairly dire consequences for dad once the newborn grows up. Mom and Dad are dressed as classic Princess Leia and Han Solo, and to symbolize their impending new addition, they have the mask of Kylo Ren.

The birth announcement was posted to Reddit by user ZachBrr, the brother of the father to be. The soon to be uncle was apparently the one who took the photo in question, and he pointed out, what we're guessing you're already thinking. That this doesn't end well for Han Solo.

My exact words before taking the picture were, 'the funny part of this announcement is that this implies, one day, he/she's gonna kill you!'

On the one hand, what's a Star Wars fan couple to do when it comes to a baby announcement? Really, the only other option is to have mom and dad dress like Anakin and Padme, but that comes with its own set of problems. In that scenario, dad is going to go evil, inadvertently cause mom's death and then be ultimately killed by his son as well. Really, between the two Star Wars families, these folks may have picked the least dysfunctional one.

Of course, since we're guessing these folks are real Star Wars fans, it's not like they didn't know what they were doing. Clearly, this couple, in addition to loving Star Wars, also have a glorious sense of humor. After all, in their own way, our children slowly kill all of us. As a parent of a newborn, I can testify to this with absolute certainty.

Of course, as Star Wars fans we're guessing that they're already considering the "worst case scenario" of their impending bundle of joy. If the baby is due in December of 2017, then the baby will be arriving sometime very close to the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. If they're lucky, the kid will have the decency to wait until after mom and dad have had a chance to watch it. Even if the kid is born in early December, getting out to a movie with a newborn is tough unless you have a really wonderful babysitter.

Perhaps, in the end, this picture won't be so ominous. While we don't know what the future has in store for Kylo Ren, it's going to be difficult for the new trilogy to redeem the character in any way, even if there are plans to try and do that. At the end of the day, he killed Han Solo, and fans aren't going to forgive him for that.
