James Gunn Shared A Throwback Photo Of Star-Lord On The Set Of Guardians Of The Galaxy

Of all the Marvel Cinematic Universe's filmmakers, director James Gunn has always had the best online presence. From confirming Easter eggs for fans to congratulating other films to offering his thoughts on the superhero movie genre and its fandom, James Gunn is always a fun follow. Then there's the fact that his complete unwillingness to suffer fools often finds him trolling in hilarious ways. He is also great at providing behind-the-scenes looks at his MCU movies. The latest of these is a throwback photo to the set of the original Guardians of the Galaxy, showing Mr. Star-Lord himself. Check it out below:

A fresh-faced Star-Lord, Chris Pratt is joined in this photo by actor Christopher Fairbank, who played The Broker in Guardians of the Galaxy, with both actors looking quite stylish in their space chic costumes. Why is it that science fiction heroes always get such killer jackets? It's almost a requirement. Also, the makeup on Christopher Fairbank is great and I sincerely hope he walked around town like that. James Gunn notes in this Instagram post that the veteran actor, who has appeared in everything from Batman to The Fifth Element, has the best eyebrows in the business. which I suppose is a pretty cool endorsement.

For those who don't remember him from Guardians of the Galaxy, The Broker is a purveyor of high-end goods on Xandar, The Broker was approached by Star-Lord about purchasing the Orb (Power Stone) from him, but refused upon learning it was sought by Ronan the Accuser. After that, Yondu, who wanted information about the Orb, including who was interested in buying it, also visited The Broker in a really funny scene. Interestingly, The Broker was also supposed to appear in Thor: Ragnarok but that didn't come to fruition. He seems perfectly suited to fit in with those wheelers and dealers of the galaxy who play in morally grey areas like The Collector and The Grandmaster, but even though he missed out on that movie, there's always Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Warning: SPOILERS for Avengers: Infinity War below!

Things were much simpler for Chris Pratt's Star-Lord way back in Guardians of the Galaxy when he only had to deal with one Infinity Stone. Avengers: Infinity War found the hero lose the love of his life, ruin the plan to defeat Thanos and get turned to dust by the Mad Titan's universe-balancing finger snap. Tough stuff, although Chris Pratt recently defended Star-Lord's freakout on Thanos as a natural reaction for a guy who has simply lost too much. Time will tell how he comes back physically and if he can emotionally recover from the loss of Gamora (presuming she stays dead).

Keep an eye on our Marvel Cinematic Universe page for everything having to do with the MCU as we approach Avengers 4 and then Phase 4 and beyond.
