According to PEOPLE, Ryan Lochte surprised Kayla Rae Reid with a helicopter tour of Los Angeles on Sunday night, which landed the couple on the banks of the Pacific Ocean in Malibu, where Lochte proposed at sunset.
Ryan Lochte began dating Kayla Rae Reid at the start of 2016. The couple's relationship became public when Reid traveled to Rio to be with Lochte during the Olympics this summer. Reid is a model for Playboy, and shared her joy at the engagement after Lochte proposed with a shot of her own on Instagram.
Just last week, Ryan Lochte opened up to USA Today and said that he was planning on proposing to Kyla Rae Reid very soon. Apparently, he meant very, very soon! Lochte said that it was through her commitment to him during his public scandal recently that convinced him to ask her to marry him.

Turns out, Lochte and his pals had actually vandalized a local gas station, and the owner pulled a gun on them in order to get them to pay for the damages. The story became a media whirlwind, and turned Lochte into a pariah.
Now, Ryan Lochte is attempting to tango his way back into America's heart as a contestant on this season of Dancing With the Stars, but it's not coming easily. Lochte's first performance of the show was interrupted when protestors stormed the stage. However, Lochte is still in the competition, and that sparkly Mirror Ball trophy would sure go well with that dazzling engagement ring, I must say!
