Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

The magic is gone for now, but not for long! Tens of thousands of new tickets for the hit London play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child sold out the same day that they were released, but the production announced that it will be putting up more tickets in a few months.

As we previously reported, Tuesday was the day that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child released 60,000 tickets that the general public could pick up for £15 each (about $18.75), and would be valid for shows that would take place next holiday season --- December 13, 2017 to February 4, 2018 to be specific. In news that is surprising to absolutely nobody, all 60,000 of those tickets sold out the same day that they were put up of sale. The production's Facebook page confirmed that the new batch of tickets sold out just about six hours after they were released on Tuesday morning, but there's still hope for those fans that were too slow to snag their tickets --- a new batch will be going up for sale in just two months!

All tickets released today have now been sold. The next release of tickets will be in January 2017, exact date to be...

The production assured fans that another batch of tickets would be put on sale sometime in January of 2017, and encouraged them to continue checking the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child website and social media feeds for when an exact date would be set. For extremely diehard fans who want to know the minute that the ticket release date is announced, signing up for the play's newsletter is your best bet to be one of the first people in the know.

In the meantime, there are a few other ways that fans can score a ticket to the hottest show in London. The Harry Potter and the Cursed Child team releases tickets every Friday to forty guests chosen by lottery. You can also check for returned tickets or late-release tickets the day of each performance and hope you get lucky.

But for most of us, the best bet is likely going to be to wait until January and be quicker to purchase tickets in the next batch, because you can rest assured that those are going to sell out day-of as well. So for all the disappointed Harry Potter fans who missed their chance to snag tickets this time around: don't worry, you're second chance is already on its way. And in the meantime, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is in theaters everywhere, so at least you can soak in some new Harry Potter magic! Plus, there's always the hope that the play will get a feature film adaptation some day...
