There's A KFC Scented Candle, Because Why Not

If you were racking your brain to figure out a way to make you house smell finger-lickin' good without having to fry up some chicken yourself, then KFC has just the product for you, well, if you're in New Zealand! The fast food chain is giving away scented candles now, which smell like those greasy combo meals that you hate yourself for loving.

The bizarre new product is actually a promotion for the Christian celebration of Advent, during which observants will light four candles in the four weeks leading up to Christmas. And to win your very own chicken-scented candle from KFC, all you have to do is comment with another KFC merchandise pitch. Be warned, though, that the promotion seems to only be going on in New Zealand, so anyone not on the island is just going to have to try and find another candle that smells like fried chicken.

The KFC scented candle is the latest in Kentucky Fried Chicken's history of selling strange merchandise. Just a few months ago, the fast food chain announced that they were giving away KFC branded sunscreen that made wearers smell like fried chicken. The restaurant advertised the sunscreen in a goofy, infomercial-style viral video, and gave away a limited edition of the product for free.

And even earlier in 2016, Kentucky Fried Chicken was selling edible nail polish in its Hong Kong locations. The nail polish reportedly actually tastes like the chain's famous eleven herbs and spices, and is safe to eat. The Asian arm of the franchise advertised the perplexing product with an equally mystifying commercial.

And the weirdness has gotten into KFC's food products as well. Last year, Foodbeast listed a bunch of the bizarre menu items that Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants across the world are serving. The list was instigated by the franchise's introduction of the Double Down sandwich, which had health advocates appalled by replacing the bread buns of a normal sandwich with two fried chicken patties. But as strange as it may be to believe, that isn't even the most unbelievable thing that KFC is offering their customers. Apparently, some KFCs sell shrimp burgers and deep-fried corn soup as menu items!

I guess a scented candle doesn't seem so wild after all.
