Tom Hardy looking sharp in Legend

As an actor, Tom Hardy often plays notorious villains, such as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises and John Fitzgerald in The Revenant, but the other day, the 39-year-old English actor proved he is a hero in real life. Reportedly, two brazen sixteen-year-olds in London were so busy trying to steal a motorbike that they drove the vehicle through a red light and collided with a car. The suspected robbers tried to bolt from the scene of the crime, but Hardy, who happened to observe the crash, opted to chase after the two kids. Check out this thrilling eyewitness account from a man who watched Hardy leap into action in the aftermath of the incident:

It was mental. Like, he'd switched to superhero mode in an action movie. Two boys on the nicked moped had jumped a red light and smashed into a car. Tom must have been walking down the road. He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious. If the kid had been dumb enough to resist, I reckon Tom would have given him a good hiding.

The eyewitness, who spoke to the BBC, talked to Hardy after everything went down. The star told the bystander he had chased the perpetrators around the block and through private backyards to catch them. Apparently, life imitated art because the pursuit took Hardy on a path "like an assault course" that could have come straight from an action movie. Reports reveal the muscleman movie star jumped over walls and even ran through a building site to stop the supposed criminals.

Unfortunately for the alleged culprits, there was no fooling foolhardy Tom Hardy. The star of the FX show Taboo managed to chase down one of the purported thieves, and then he patted down the teen to check for concealed weapons. (Yikes! Be careful.) Meanwhile, a police officer apprehended the second teen involved in the ordeal. In the end, the police arrested the two teens on suspicion of several infractions, from taking a vehicle without permission to outright theft of a motor vehicle.

A spokesperson for Tom Hardy would not comment on the matter, but we would love to hear details about it. Perhaps one day, Hardy himself will discuss the harrowing event in an interview. It certainly is the kind of story that keeps us on the edge of our seats. In fact, some people have wondered whether he might be a good fit for a James Bond movie; well, this story has "007" written all over it. We love hearing stories about stars who step in to make a real difference in the world by (literally) chasing down a better tomorrow (on foot through the back gardens of private homes in London). Way to go, Tom!
