There are plenty of kids who grow up hoping to become rich and famous; this, in many ways, is the American dream. Although there's a downside to fame and fortune, especially when it comes to your personal safety and privacy. Reality TV mogul Kim Kardashian has struggled with both, often while documenting the process on E!'s Keeping up with the Kardashians. Aside from more trivial issues like not being able to go into a supermarket, Kardashian also suffered a harrowing robbery at gunpoint in Paris a while back, and has has attempted burglaries in her home as well. Now she's found a way to dissuade potential thieves from trying again: she's not keeping any jewelry in her new home.
This news comes to us from TMZ, which reports that Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West have a rule in their new home: no jewelry allowed! After suffering a slew of robbery attempts, this seems like a smart way for the couple to protect their home and their growing family. If there are less valuables inside their mansion, there will likely be less incentive to break in an an attempt to rob them.
Additionally, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been upping security in their new Hidden Hills mansion. The pop culture royal couple reportedly has armed guards on call 24/7, in case anything dicey happens in their first few weeks in their new home. Kardashian's collection of bling is reportedly being kept in a separate venue, which she'll have to access before appearing in any red carpet situations in the future.
It should come as no surprise that Kim Kardashian is taking somewhat drastic measures in regards to her personal safety. Her robbery at gunpoint in Paris was traumatizing for the reality TV star, a subject she's been open about on Keeping up with the Kardashians. Kardashian believed she was going to be both sexually assaulted and killed during the incident, and has been suffering from the trauma in the year and change since the events. Ultimately 17 individuals were arrested for their role in the robbery, which resulted in the loss of about $5 million of jewelry and other goods.
Hopefully Kim Kardashian ultimately has the savvy mindset and vast resources to make sure that she and her growing family are protected in their new home. The stakes certainly must feel even higher, as she and Kanye are expecting their third child via a surrogate. With a large family in their home, the pressure is on to make it as private and safe as human possibly, despite both parents' massive fame.
You can catch Kim in Keeping up with the Kardashians, Sundays on E!. She'll also have a cameo in Ocean's 8, which will be released June 8, 2018.
