Olympian Bode Miller's 1-Year-Old Daughter Dies After Tragic Pool Accident

Bode Miller's household was struck with tragedy over the weekend. The Olympian skier mournfully told his social media followers that Emeline Miller, his 19-month-old daughter, died after drowning in a Southern California swimming pool. The 1-year-old was pronounced dead on Sunday at an Orange County hospital, the day after paramedics tried unsuccessfully to bring her back to health after the swimming pool incident. In his Instagram address, Miller said the family was "beyond devastated" by this passing, and the athlete commemorated his departed daughter for "her love, her light" and "her spirit." He also requested privacy for himself and his family at this time. Here's what Bode Miller wrote.

Paramedics were called to Bode Miller's residence just before 6:30 PM on Saturday, according to a report from ESPN. After the paramedics were unable to retrieve a pulse from Emeline Miller, the medical professionals rushed the toddler to the emergency room. There was reportedly no pulse the whole way to the hospital. According to Carrie Braun, Orange County sheriff's spokesperson, the death is currently under investigation at this time.

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team responded to Bode Miller's tragedy by posting the following tweet.

In addition to the social media post above, Bode Miller also expressed his gratitude for everyone who has supported him and extended their condolences during this extremely difficult moment in his life in a follow-up post.
