Demi Lovato Interview

Being in the public eye is a tricky and often dangerous thing. While being rich and famous is something so many of us dream for, the reality is far more complicated, messy, and even dangerous. Plenty of stars have succumbed to the pressure and negative influence of fame, despite their best efforts. Unfortunately this has occurred yet again, this time for actress/singer Demi Lovato. Lovato has been open about her struggle with mental health and addiction, revealing that she relapsed not long ago. Unfortunately this has taken a more terrifying turn, as Lovato has reportedly been hospitalized after overdosing on heroin.

This terrifying update comes to us from TMZ, which reports that Demi Lovato overdosed on heroin in her Hollywood Hills home early today. She was transported from her home to the hospital around noon, although its unclear how exactly help was called for the "Skyscraper" singer. She was reportedly treated with Narcan, which is used to treat heroin overdoses. While her overall state is unclear, she's hopefully getting the treatment she needs in the hospital.

Demi Lovato revealed her recent relapse through an emotional song called "Sober". The lyrics were emotional and raw, apologizing to her family and fans for falling off the wagon. While it was unclear exactly what Lovato was referencing, it's now clear that drugs are part of the problem, specifically heroin. While she's been touring and has upcoming dates in the future, it's unknown how she'll recover, or what treatment the singer will seek in order to help her substance issues.

Throughout her time in the spotlight, Demi Lovato has been open about her mental and substance struggles. She first went to rehab at the age of 18, and has struggled with issues related to self-harm, depression, body dysmorphia, and bullying. Eventually she was treated for these issues, and opened up about her struggles through music and interviews. While channeling her issues through her guest role on Grey's Anatomy and songs like "Skyscraper" she was able to reach a healthy place for a number of years.

Demi Lovato chronicled her life and struggles in a documentary titled Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated. The full doc is on Youtube, and you can check it out below.

News of Demi Lovato's reported heroin overdose is no doubt chocking to her millions of fans, who will be concerned about the singer/actress' well being. Because she's fostered such a sense of community, there will be plenty of fans supporting Lovato in her ongoing journey. Let's just hope that this recent terrifying relapse will not last long, and she'll be able to take care of herself.
