Cee Lo Green Postpones Las Vegas Loberace Show

Most celebrities understand the amount of effort and time it takes to put together a judge-based reality competition show. Former American Idol talking head Jennifer Lopez has come right out and said it, as well as America’s Got Talent’s Howard Stern and even pop star Katy Perry, who has not endeavored to do more than guest host on those shows. Taking the time to judge on a competition show is an admirable commitment, but it must be a real bummer when other commitments suffer due to one's ties on the show.

The Voice judge Cee Lo Green has been planning Cee Lo Green Is Loberace , a live show set for the Planet Hollywood Resort, for months now. The musician with the weird pet mascots and the odd sunglasses has always had a penchant for strange ideas and that should presumably hold up well in a Las Vegas Show, where the likes of Playboy model Holly Madison in a shepherdess costume, Penn and Teller’s gig, acrobatic circus acts, Celine Dion, and blue men are the norm. The show was expected to begin on August 29, but with Cee Lo’s desire to be as awesome as possible on NBC’s hit show, that date is no longer a possibility.

Green took to his personal website to state his show—which should feature plenty of fire—is now being postponed until 2013. The premiere is set for February 27, and dates for March and April have already been given credence, as well.

I’m not certain this whole thing has 100% to do with Green’s work on The Voice, but it is a convenient excuse and at least decently believable. Since ticketholders who have purchased tickets for dates will be refunded in their entirety, we should all let bygones be bygones and hope Loberace has no more trouble getting the show together.
